Re-wiring

hidden junction box

Sometimes you never know what you’ll find.

This junction box was discovered behind a piece of plasterboard that the previous owner hadn’t got around to skimming over.

I had to make this safe as most of it was still live and in use.

A hatch was made so as to facilitate future access.

The job was to investigate flickering lights on the landing.

I found loose connections and bare conductors when the light switch was removed.

The insulation from the old black rubberised cables just crumbled away as soon as touched exposing more bare wire. In this case I was able to make good as best as possible with sheathing.

This lighting circuit requires a complete rewire. A likely cost is impossible to say as who knows what lies beneath the plaster.
